Q: What am I looking for when I check for lice?

A: Most of what you will see will likely be lint, dirt, dandruff, skin flakes, or scabs, which can be confusing. Lice lay eggs, which hatch nymphs that grow into adult lice…see what they look like and read about their life cycle here:

Q: Where can I learn more about lice?

A: The CDC’s website offers helpful, easy-to-understand information about head lice. Most schools follow CDC guidelines, which recommend that children not be sent home early just because lice are found. Instead, children can finish the school day as usual and return to school once treatment has been started.
